When "Quilters" keep you going....
I'm happily working on the next
block
for Parisian Summer.
Oh ...
I can't wait to get it done~
For those of you who haven't used
Transfer Eze
before...
This is what it looks like.
You feed the paper through a copy machine,
copy your embroidery design on to it,
peel off the back....
and it is sticky so you can just
adhere it to the fabric...
then start hand embroidering through it.
AMAZING!!
I probably would have given up
on hand embroidery
if it wasn't for this stuff.

We had such an amazing show in Ft Lauderdale Florida!
You know...
after running 30 days straight
with no break...
a gal gets a little weary.
But the people at this show...
pulled me right up and out!
They thanked us over and over for 'adding'
to their show...
gushed over the booth...
(which in all reality was very
low on inventory...
we were actually embarrassed)
and one lady went as far
as telling us that in the 10 years
that she has worked the show
she has never seen such an
incredible booth.
I can't begin to tell you
how a few kind words...
uplifted my spirit and soul.
Oh yes...
and I met one of my Bloggie Friends....

Latest Block in Mystery Quilt!

I am only home for a few hours...
but just had to post a picture of the latest block
in
Buttercream Summer!
I may be cutting out the bottom left hand
corner...
so thus there is no hand embroidery there...
but this could change.
I will figure it all out
after next month's block...
when it all HAS to come
together.

We pulled in late last night from Maryland...
and have to leave real early
for Florida in the morning.
But I just wanted to say
I have missed reading all of your blogs...
I have hardly turned on the computer.
Sigh.
Life will slow down.

And Who Says This Is A Glamorous Live??

Someone told me a few weeks ago
that a lot of people think I live
a real glamorous life!
Really now?
Let me tell you gals how it really is!!
Little over a week ago...
we left for our show in Texarkana, TX.
The Guitar Man...
literally stayed up all night...
the night before
working on orders from the 'previous'
30 day run...
and then got in the car at 5 a.m.
his head never even hitting the pillow!
I tried to hit the sheets around 1 in the morning...
same night...
but couldn't sleep
with all the noise
of the trailer being loaded,
so up I got and helped him finish.
I never drive...
but this run I knew he needed help.
It was a 10 hour drive...
We took turns catching a few winks
in the back seat on my feather bed
before pulling into the fairgrounds
at Texarkana.
Just in time...
to start setting up.
~~Whew~~
Arrived home...
went to the supplier...
started on more kits...
back in the car 72 hours later...
and on ...
and on...
Next week...
same story!
The following week...
same story!
Now I'm not a complainin' girls...
just sayin!
This is the way it is.
Not too glamorous eh?
I will tell you that it is the people who keep us going!
And there was one especially special lady at this show.
Miss Gwen!
This lady was a hoot!
She kept bringing people over to my booth...
picking up the pen off of my table
showing them
where to sign on the dotted line..
to sign up for my
Mystery Block of the Month.
She also brought this jacket for me as a gift
at the end of the show!
We both went on and on
the two days of the show
talking about 'pink'...
and thus the gift.
I was overwhelmed and touched.
I was thrilled
that Miss Jaime
wanted to learn how to sew!
She even gave demos
when I took a break...
It too was great to meet up
with our daughter Tammy
and her new hubby...
And I have to show the pic
of the goofy
Guitar Man
with our grand daughter...
He's gonna love me for this one!
Well...
I just wanted to check in...

I LOVED this book!!
It is by the author who penned
Simple Abundance
in the 90's.
This book is about
Women and Money
as well as her fall from grace...
and losing all the millions
she made on
her previous books.
It is not a dry read like
most books on 'money'...
she has a style
that makes you feel uplifted
in these hard economic times.
And encourages women
to take charge.
I'm actually on my second
go around with this book.
It's that good.
I've never read a book twice
through
just within months of each other.
So go out and buy it!!
Now the next one...
is
by a newer author....
Molly Wizenberg.
She started with a blog
called
and ended up getting a book deal out of it!
Go Molly!
She tells her story....
along with recipes
in such a delightful way...
you feel like you are right
there with her.
The Guitar Man
so generously shared with me
a few days ago
that he has booked me...
EVERY weekend in March!
This week....Texarkana, Texas...
Next week I believe it is in Maryland...
Then Ft Lauderdale, Florida...
and finally some small town
in Indiana.
Oh how I love that man~

Did ya know?? I used to own a Cinnamon Roll Shoppe?
So here's the Scene:
Year: 1988
Location: Dallas Texas...right down the street
from American Airlines Headquarters
A strip mall housed
The Cinnamon Station....
my creation.
I was working 18 hour days....
making, baking delivering
cinnamon rolls.
I had a 6 month old in the backroom
whom I was breast feeding...
two other little kids running around...
pregnant with the fourth child
and didn't know it...
but felt like I was having a
nervous breakdown.
Literally.
At the end of these hard days...
I would have less money than I started out with..
Hmmm....
Finally figured out...
that the 'then' husband...
was having an affair with the girl
at the hair salon next door...
and right next door to her...
Sam the deli man...
was supplying him with cocaine.
Needless to say...
I went broke.
My fortune and fame
was not to be made
with dough...
But I will share my recipes with you!
I made the above cinnamon rolls for my son in law
while I was down in Utah last month.
I overheard a conversation between him and my daughter.
Brooke: Brian you started coming over to my house when I was 12 years old because you were so in love with me.
Brian: Sorry hon....I was coming over for your mom's cinnamon rolls!
Thus I made him a double batch...
3 large pans full of huge cinnamon rolls.
If you don't have a lot of time...
and don't want to make the dough yourself...
this is the easiest way.
Buy a loaf of Bridgeford Frozen Loaf Bread...
the package that has 3 loaves in it.
Set it out on the counter the night before.
When you wake up it will look
like it is ready to burst out of the bag.
Roll it out to about 1/2" thickness.
Slather it with a stick and a half of
softened butter (not margarine).
I sprinkle about another 1/2" of
brown sugar over the whole thing....
and put a good amount
of quality cinnamon
on top of that.
has great cinnamon.
I like nuts...
so I chop up about 1 cup of walnuts
and spread that on top.
Roll them up tightly!
Cut about 1" thick
and place in a greased pan.
Let rise for about 30 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees for around
25-30 minutes.
When they are light to medium brown on the top
they are ready to come out.

Top with cream cheese frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
1 stick of real butter
1 8 oz pkg of cream cheese
about a half of a large bag of powdered sugar
1 tsp of vanilla.
(Beat together)
(Do a taste taste. I don't like my frosting
super sugary sweet...
because the rolls already
have a lot of sugar in them.
I think this is one of the keys
to my awesome cinnamon rolls!)
With a spatula
slather it on top of the
just baked cinnamon rolls.
Enjoy!!
Now if you want my dough recipe...
here it is:
4 cups of warm water
3 Tbsp of yeast
(Mix together and let sit for 10 minutes..
until it is frothy)
Add:
1 cup powdered milk
2/3 cup of oil
4 tsp of salt
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
10-12 cups of flour
Mix all together. I have a Bosch
so I put in all the ingredients
except only about 6 cups of flour.
I then add enough flour
until it cleans the sides of the bowl.
Knead it for 10 minutes.
I place about 4 Tbsp of oil
in large bowl...
place the dough in there,
then turn it over, so the oil is on all sides of the dough.
Let rise until doubled in bulk.
Roll out for cinnamon rolls.
This dough is GREAT to freeze.
Once I make up the cinnamon rolls,
I put them on a buttered baking sheet to freeze.
After they are frozen I place them in ziplock bags.
When you want to use them, place them 3" apart on
a buttered pyrex or sheet pan.
Let rise until doubled in size.
(Around 5-6 hours.)
I used to take frozen rolls out of the freezer
on Saturday night late...
and then popped them in the oven
early Sunday morning...
for a quick breakfast before church.
So there you have it gals!
That's my story...
and I'm a stickin' to it!!

A Meet Me In Paris Quilt
I made for my mom and dad's
50th wedding anniversary a few years ago.
Above is mom's guest room.
We stayed a quick night with them
on our way out of Denver.
Speaking of the Denver show....
what a nightmare...
We were in that bad storm...
creeping along the freeway
at about 10-20 mph
all the way.
Causing us to be late for set up.
Poor Kenny Roy
only had 2 1/2 hours that night.
Thankfully it was only a single booth...
We were so glad to finally be done with that
show...
and on our way to see the grand kids.
On the way out of Denver...
we usually stop here...
for some good grub.
I mean really???
How can you go wrong...
with a name like that?
Here we are just outside...
A quick stop at the bookstore...
And finally to grand kids house we go...
