A Very Unpleasant 36 hours in the Hospital

Just a quick little post....

Ken and I are driving, driving, driving...
across the USA....
when just outside of Gallup, New Mexico...
I came down with horrific pain.
I had Ken pull over more than once....
so I could stand outside by the road
hoping it would subside....

It just got worse...
so we pulled into The Hampton Inn...
where I ran a hot tub of water...
but after 2 hours of crying horrifically...
I told him he had to take me to the ER.
I was shaking and crying, moaning...
what a mess I was.
It was a severe gallbladder attack.

After tons of morphene, antibiotics...
dyes, for CT scans...
and fluids being pumped into me...
I finally talked the doc out of surgery.

It just didn't seem possible so far from home.
Because their XRay machines were all down...
they let me go.
But he told me...
"When you see a doc about this,
they are going to ask why in the world didn't these people
take out your gallbladder then and there."
Boy
life sure does get interesting sometimes...
I'm
tired
of
"interesting"
Happy Turkey day to all!

  3. Girl, you take care now! Go get that nasty thing out, you'll feel better in the long run. I'm glad you didn't have to stay around there, far from home. Hugs, Elaine

  4. Oh honey no - get it taken care of immediately! My grandma had hers out and it was full of gangrene. My mom had hers out while on vacation in FL. I've only had one attack, and it was a doozy, but with no insurance I lived through it, lol. Go get checked! I hope you have a BLESSED Thanksgiving, not an interesting one!

  5. What a bad time to have an attack on Turkey day! You'll be ok. I had to deal with mine while pregnant. Just don't eat fat or fried. AT ALL!! Because you know the pain it causes. I hope you can get it out soon!

  6. Yikes! Not that having a gallbladder attack and needing to have surgery is ever convenient, but during a road-trip. How stressful. Try to pamper yourself.

  7. Oh my, that must have been horrible!! My mother and both my sisters have had their gall bladders removed so I've been lucky to escape the problems but I know what pain they endured beforehand :-( My advice would be to cut out fat as much as possible. It's what Rosemary Conley (the UK diet guru) did and she never needed an operation after that!

  9. (((((*gentle embrace*)))))

been there done that! oh so very painful.
a large stone was lodged in the neck of my gallbladder. unmoveable. the gallbladder needed to be removed. recovering from surgery was easy peasy compared to the temporary pain experienced before surgery.

    praying for you <><

  10. Ji John'aLee... Boy, as soon as you get home get your gallbladder out... You will be up and on your feet in no time... The surgery is less invasive than what it use to be... Take care of yourself and you deserve a little pampering... You will be in my prayers that you will feel better soon... Take Care :)
