Another quilt is finished ladies!
This one is for Chris' mom.
I love what Marla did in putting this together.
And look at the block she put on the back for a label....
She also put the tops together for the two brothers.
I forgot to get a pic of one of them before I sent it off to Karen in Pennsylvania who is quilting it...
but they were pretty close to the same.
For those of you new to the blog,
my daughter lost her fiance last September
in Afghanistan
just days before they were to be married.
(Christopher John Scott)
If you'd like to read about it,
There are several posts about the project and about us losing
our darling soldier boy.
I still weep as I do this post almost a year later!
Thank you all for your generous support
in this great endeavor!
And especially for your prayers.
A huge hug to Marla for helping me get these quilts done,
and for the two sweet ladies finishing the quilting.
You are the best!!
Hugs,
oh john'a lee, these are so wonderful. to see them finalized is so gratifying! life changes so quickly! how is your daughter? are you a grandma yet?
ReplyDeleteSo grateful there are wonderful quilters helping you pull these together, John'aLee. What a tender spot in your heart must be reserved for the lost soldier boy.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks wonderful. I hope it offers some comfort to Chris's mom to know how many people care.
Not a day goes by that Chris is not on my heart and his family and yours are in my prayers. I was so honored to send a few blocks and the quilts are simply stunning. Lots of tears and heartache and love in those quilts. May they now bring comfort and healing.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful - oh this is wonderful, sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you dear John'aLee ... and to your dear Daughter and soon to be additions to the family. God Bless you all!
ReplyDeleteThe quilts look beautiful. How time flies! I think the first year passes in such a numb blur that the first anniversary is very painful. Thinking of you all x
ReplyDeleteCame out great!! Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?? And two more for the brothers! Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilts look wonderful! It's not surprising that you should still feel sad - a year isn't very long!

I love how the quilts came out. I hope they are comforting to the family.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and full of love. Fantastic. I know that the parents and brothers will treasure them forever.
ReplyDeleteHi John'alee,
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are coming out great...I often think of you all...since I made blocks for y'all to honour your fallen soldier boy, I've become involved with Aussie Hero Quilts & Laundry Bags....which is very similar to y'alls Quilts of Valor. Just recently one of our (AHQ) Wounded Warrior Quilts was presented to a USMC Corporal who was injured saving some of our soldiers under fire at the end of August...and he's now an honourary Aussie Hero.
It's hard to believe how much time has flown since I first got to know you.
I hope you're all as well as can be expected at this time of year.
Big hugs my friend
