Veteran's Day Has Taken on a New Meaning Since Losing Our Beloved Soldier

We Love you Chris...
We Miss  you...
We thank you for your ultimate sacrifice!
Tory putting up Chris' plaque at Ft Campbell at his Eagle Ceremony on Wednesday
It's been a rough week on T-Bug (Tory's nickname)
Being back at base with all her memories of Chris.
She told me this ceremony was so much harder on her than
the funeral in Dundee NY.

I think at his funeral she was in shock.
Now...reality has set in.

His parents and brothers are here in town.
I showed them our quilt project
and his mom was really touched.

Dear Madam Samm over at
Sew I Quilt
did a touching thing for Tory.

She started
Project Compassion for Tory
which resulted in this:
A Portrait of Chris for his Parents
and this:
A Portrait of Chris for Tory
The artist is Kaziah Hancock

She is president of Project Compassion

She paints with a spatula and her work is amazing.

Because of Samm's connection with her,
she sat aside 400 other orders
to paint these.
She has several artists that work with her,
but on hearing of Samm's plea
she painted these herself.

Please take the time on this Veteran's Day
to check out her work.

thank you from the bottom of my heart.
For your generosity of spirit...
for your help in my grieving...
and for taking the time
to help ease a little girl's pain.
We love you!

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers.
It means the world to us.

My heart is given to all our military
this day...

  1. God bless Tory as she deals with this painful loss and the reality sets in. What a tender photo of her putting up his plaque--and the photo of him so alive and real. This got me teary eyed. An appropriate reminder on this day of the price of war.

  2. What a tough time for you all. Those portraits are amazing! It's true that this day has taken on a whole new meaning. I'm praying that this war will end very soon before any more soldiers and their families and friends have to make such sacrifices. Thinking of you all xx

  3. You've all been in my thoughts all morning long. Madame Samm is one amazing lady and I am so impressed that she helped make the connection and the resulting portraits that will forever bless your homes. Huge hugs today ane everyday forward!

  4. Thinking of you, Tory and Chris's family. The significance of this Remembrance Day has a sharper impact because of Chris's sacrifice, even though I never knew him. It brings what is happening, home, in a real and heartwrenching way and emphasizes all that we have to thankful for, this and every day. Sending prayers and hugs.

  5. Thinking of you and Tory today - "milestone days" are so hard. First Thanksgiving, first Christmas, first 4th of July without our loved one. You have stitched together such a wonderful support system for your family. I pray for healing and fond remembrance for you all.

  6. i have been thinking of all of you since i got up this morning!

  7. On this Rememberence Day, my thoughts are especially with Tory as she once again experiences another difficult day.....and also to all the brave soldiers and their families who have paid the ultimate sacrafice to make our countries safer. Teary eyed again as I read this post. What a beautiful tribute of Chris for Tory and Chris' parents from Mme Samm
...her thoughtfulness always amazes me and her caring ways makes me smile, the greatest Mme!! hugs

  8. He paid the ultimate sad.....

Love and prayers to your family!!

  9. Thinking of you all on Veterans Day... what beautiful portraits... I'm sure they will be treasured!

  10. I was thinking about you today and all that you and your family have faced in recent months...((hugs))

  11. From the bottom of my heart...thank you!

  12. Praying for comfort for you, Tory and Chris' family. Thank you Chris for serving our country and making the ultimate sacrifice. God has a plan and we do not always understand why things happen. It is hard to accept His way sometimes but please KEEP THE FAITH!!!

  13. What wonderful portraits, but so sad they had to be made at all. Sending warm {{hugs}}, T&P's.

  14. Thinking of Tory and what wonderful paintings....

  15. Hi
Been thinking about you and your family for two reasons. First, of course, is Veteran's Day. Even though I never met him, your loss is still felt all the way through this computer. And, we were at the Mancuso Quilt Show in Palm Beach yesterday, and while walking through the vendors, I though of you. Hope to see you at the Quilt Show in Ft. Lauderdale next March.
    God bless,
    Linda B.

  16. i just now saw this post . . .
there are no adequate words to express
my sorrow for yours/tory's/chris' parents loss.
what a terrible sorrow it is.
thankful for the tenderness of others,
    for chris' memorial (though difficult).
    bless her sweet heart.
