We always believe it happens to other people, not ourselves. Once the shock has passed it is important to try and focus on the positive. You are safe & were not injured & that is the most important thing to be grateful for. You have family & friends to support you & shelter you while the damage is assessed & then repaired. I am sure you are in shock right now, When you are able to know exactly what the extent of the damage is & have a plan for repairing the damaged areas you will be able to see that you will get your home & your life back. Try to remind yourself what a strong person you are & that you will get through this. You are safe and with family that love you. I am hoping that the waters receed quickly & that cleaning & repairs can begin soon. I know it feels terrible to feel you are not in control of your life & to have to sit waiting to know the extent of the damage & how it can be reapired. This is a bump in the road of life & you need to remind yourself that your situation is temporary.
I am sure you will get through this, now you need to have the same belief in yourself. Sometimes the best thing to do is have a good cry. Experiencing a flood is like a experiencing a small death. You need to grieve your losses & gather your strength to rebuild. Please try to take things step by step and not think too far ahead. keeping focused in the moment will help keep you stay together emotionally.
I will pray for the waters to receed quickly & for God to give remind you that you have all the inner-strength needed to get through a difficult situation like you are experiencing.. I am so sorry this happened to you, but I have every belief that you will come through this & be better & stronger than you were before. It will take a lot more than some flooding to stop the ranchers daughter & quilter never quit. But they had many people pitch in to help with the cleanup and everything turned out fine.
